The +DS Projects in Medicine and the Health Data Science Internship Program will hold a student showcase on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 10 AM – 12 PM in the Gross Hall Atrium.

Students will present posters and “lightening talk” presentations about their work. We invite you to join us to learn about their work, and converse with the students, mentors, faculty, and staff. Light refreshments from Foster’s Market will be served.

Machine learning is a field characterized by development of algorithms that are implemented in software and run on a machine. Recently, with increasing access to massive datasets, and to significant advances in computing resources, the quality of machine learning performance (e.g., prediction accuracy) has improved markedly. Further, over the last five years, significant advances have been made in a subfield of machine learning called “deep learning.”

Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated art has been trending in the news recently, and +DS is excited to hold a reception for more than 20 entries in the Duke AI for Art Competition created by Duke students, faculty, and staff.

The Machine Learning School for the School of Medicine (MLS-SOM) is being offered for the first time in March 2019. The MLS-SOM program is designed to introduce Duke University School of Medicine faculty and staff to machine learning and its current and anticipated impact on clinical practice.

AI-generated art has been trending in the news recently, and +DS is excited to announce the Duke AI for Art Competition. All Duke students, faculty and staff may submit visual art generated via artificial intelligence (AI). The art should be a digital image or video, and should be generated entirely by software run on a computer.
